Default Florida Keys....Marathon

Traveling to Marathon in August with my boat. Will be the first time I have been to the keys. Currently I live in Tampa Bay, and primarily fish for grouper. So, I am looking for some advice, tips/tricks, knowledge or whatever else can be offered for fishing in the Keys.

Appreciate it!

A couple methods that have worked for me:

Anchored on the far side of the reef, chumming for Yellowtail Snapper, send some live bait down with your drag set tight. Then have whoever is holding the rod ready to get slammed and reel fast before the grouper rocks you up.

Trolling divers over the top of the reef. Like to have the lip of the plug bumping the high spots. Goose the throttle when you get hit so it doesn't rock you up.

Fish live baits over structure, like patch reefs in Hawk Channel or other spots...

At that time AJ fishing (wrecks) should be good. Also, on a calm week day take a ride out to the hump...

Have fun!
