Default tampa bay charter captain for slow trolling the shipping channel

Hi all. Looking for an experienced charter captain in Tampa to possibly come out on our new Everglades 255cc to show us how to slow troll the channel for grouper. We have all equipment and boat launches from Apollo beach.

Do you plan on using down riggers or planers? John Paiva is a charter captain our of Apollo Beach. He uses planers. I did this with him on his boat and was very successful. He is also a great guy and loves fishing. May be worth giving him a call to see if he will go on your boat. Vance is also a great choice.

Vance Tice is the Godfather of Tampa grouper trolling.

I think he's been dealing with some family health issues. But if you can reach him, he's the guy to talk to. He may be able to recommend someone as well.

Great. Thanks all. Will give vance & John P a call. Recently bought a downrigger but open to whatever. Been fishing the flats my whole life so want to learn something new. Thanks again.

As others have said, Vance Tice is the guy you want to talk to. Contact him through Minnows & Monsters Tackle Shop on Manhattan in S. Tampa.

If Vance can't do it, he'll be able to recommend someone.
