Default whats the life expectancy of powerpro

I have some powerpro on a couple of reels that seems to be aging rather gracefully. Is there a time limit to this stuff like there is with mono?

it'll pretty quickly lose the waxy coating and soften up, but as long as it's not frayed it lasts darn near forever from what i can tell. i've got some 65# on my snapper reels that's on it's fourth season, still going strong...

I never give it time to wear out. My guys always lose it to barnacles, props, broken guides, etc., until the spool volume drops to where I have to replace it. It loses it's color but keeps on keeping on.

The stuff is bulletproof as near as i can tell. I tie a 10 foot piece of flouro or mono on the end and once a month or so replace the leader and the last 2 feet of the braid if it starting to fray. I hate getting snagged with it as it's so difficult to break off! I love that stuff!

As for snags and big fish, be advised...... the stuff will cut through flesh like a light sabre. Don't ask me how I know.

I try and cut back 5-6 feet each outing. Otherwise, look for frays of any sort.

Most of us never use the middle to last third of the line on the reel anyway. So, try this--after a year or two or whenever you start to worry, simply spin all the line off the reel and respool with the "worn" end
first.
Not as good as a fresh spool but probably good enough for most of us.
