Default TACO - 18' TELE Outriggers????

Looking at the TACO Tele-Outrigger
Heavy duty 18' have bases of 1 1/2".

I want to replace my 20' spreader bar models as they are a hassle one getting around them when going to the bow and then to go under the bridge they need to be dropped, which is every trip.

Figured I could just lower one or two sections and leave it like that and raise for trolling.

Anyone have these, opinions, "heavy duty" is that true. How much flex do you have when trolling?

Thanks!!

Default TACO - 18' TELE Outriggers????

A buddy of mine just rigged a pair of them on his 30 Grady for his Lee's wishbone bases. They are 2" bases so he machined a collar out of some polypropylene round stock. Anyway, first time to see them this weekend and they look good. Haven't truly used them yet, but I can say that it was nice running offshor without all of the normal whipping around of the riggers. He has the silver and gold ones. They are not as shiney as the bright lees however they are moreso than the satin lees. He got them for the same reason as you bridges, boat lift and what not. I'll let you know how they perform latter. He is about to sell the other poles if anyone is interested, they are only a year old.

I put the Tacos on my boat last fall and have used them a couple of times. Mine are gunnel mounted, 18 ft, heavy duty ones. So far so good. They do have some flex but aren't any worse than any other 18 foot poles I have seen.

Appreciate all the feedback. Yea I was wondering what I was going to do in the collar of the rigger, not a bad idea.

I have the Taco HD 1.5 inch outriggers. You can run at speed with them extended witout a problem.Hold up very well.A charter captain I know made a smart azz coment abot them being teloscopic and bending like a pretzel, that is till he saw them.He was impressed. You won't be disapointed.

Spoke to the TACO factory and they have optional sleeves to fit almost any holder in my case they have a 1 7/8 sleeve holder, just add L2 to the end of the part number and the factory glues on the required sleeve. There is no additional charge for this.

I have the 15 foot Taco teles. I've left them extended for two seasons with no problems. I keep the halyards cinched down even when the riggers are not in use so they don't flop around.

Who did you talk to or what number did you call? I mistakenly bought the 1 1/8" 15' poles and was told I have to pay around $65 to get a bushing so they would fit in the 1 1/2" holders.

Here is the email response:
Mike,
You cannot buy the sleeve seperate. We sell the whole unit like that to fit. The sleeve is part of the outrigger. The part number you would need would be
OT-0551BKA186-L2. I am not sure where that is in NY but Consumers Marine Electronics could order that for you. They are in Wall, NJ. They carry a full range of our products and can easily order these for you. Their phone number is: 1-800-332-2628

Thanks
Donna
