As a kid I used to daydream through the big master catalogs. But now when I go to a Bass Pro I feel like I'm in the Wal-Mart of the outdoors.

^^^This ^^^ It’s really sad because it should be fun to go shopping for fishing and hunting gear. But man, so much of their stuff is crap, and it’s actually pretty expensive. Generally, I get better deals elsewhere on the same items. It’s nuts.

Bought one of their frigate spinning reels for offshore . Thing was garbage. Drag was all or none. Not sure how much I spent on it, 70-100$ but that was an expensive lesson.

Hit the nail on the head. Going there when I was a kid was like going to Disney world. Was in the Tampa store today and just felt sad. So much overpriced junk, nothing in there I felt like was a real value.

For the most part I agree dont like any of there reels. The offshore angler trolling rods are not bad. Something on sale for 99.00 . The offshore angler spinning rods are ok for the sail price. They started selling there stuff along with other brands . Now they knock off those brands make them cheaply and stop selling the other brands
I dont own any of there reels or rods . But I know some charter guys in the keys that use there reels and rods. They do because the have a very liberal return policy. They use them for a while and return then. Some big name captains charge a big price and hands you a crappy rod and reel

Most of their stuff is crap , especially the reels . But the Ocean Master trolling rods are actually really good for the price . I still have a bunch of the older black ones that were made by Star that have been through hell with no issues . Was a little worried when they came out with the blue rods made by Blackfin , but after a few years of heavy use with no issues they are just as good as the older ones . The super cheap rods they sell there are definitely crap and not on the same quality level .

I’d agree with most of this except the little OM 12 lever drag jigging reels.
I have a few of them that I have beat on for several seasons now and they are actually very decent little reels.
Id put one of them against an avet sx any day.
$179. On sale,worth every penny.

There the best reel they sell. But they have a problem with the clicker going bad. The good thing that will take them back

You have to figure they're paying some big brand name company to make their gear for them.

Dont think so I believe they farm it out a Chinese manufacturer that gives them the best price . I can be wrong

But that doesn't really many anything since almost every tackle manufacturer is producing their gear in China now, even the higher end stuff.
