Question Bonita Strips

Alright guys i have a few questions about bonita strips.
I need to know how to prepare to rig bonita strips and i need to know a proper way to cut the strips.

I would also be happy if you guys could tell me your experiences using bonita strips.
Thanks!

I've caught alot of tuna, wahoo, and dolphin on them. the shiny silver ones cut out of the belly are the best. you want them thin and tapered towards the end. if you don't already know how to rig your hook I'll take a picture of one and post it.

Bonita strips range from real bait rigging to painfully simple. I do simple -- slice down behind gills on the ventral surface cutting out the pectoral fins and the rest of the belly, then filet both sides quickly as best you can. Trim the belly strip of extra meat and the fins/bones and cut to shape. Trim/shave the extra meat off the filets and cut to shape. You'll end up with one strip from the belly and 2-8 from the filtets depending how big your fish is and how big you want your strips. A simple 4"tear drop or diamond shape can be all you need to sweeten a 'witch or lure.

You could always hit a good bait shop and look at or buy a pack so you know what shape, size, etc. Then follow bmoody's technique to make your own.

They work great for wahoo, dolphin and tunas. I almost always run them with a skirt, seawitch or something, not just plain. They sell 3-packs of plastic squids with squid strips. Run those, and when the squid strip wears out, replace it with Bonita strips. Then you have the rigs and skirts ready go, and you know what they should look like and run like when you make more.
