I think April might be a little early for Sharking in NJ..you might want to post this in a regional forum to get more feedback though.

April is too early for shark fishing off NJ, and 3-5 hours is barely enough time to get out and back... Are most of the guys experienced fishermen? I went to a fishing bachelor party once and half the guys were drunk before we got on the boat and most of them had little or no ocean experience. Within an hour most of them were sick and convinced the captain to go back into the bay. Something to consider depending on the crowd.

I work on a boat out of LBI and as stated above sharks will not be in the card that tie of year. It will be hard to find a boat that takes that many people on a private charter but here is the guy i work for http://www.beachhavencharterfishing....fish/index.htm, he will work harder than anyone else and put you on the fish even if that means staying out longer. April, the stripers should start to show up. Give capt. Carl a call he is very sincere and will give it to you straight. He is also coast guard certified the only thing i dont know is when he is launching the boat because I go to school in florida. If you call him say you got the referal from JD.

Good luck

For that time of the year, your most available fish to catch is going to be bottom fish such as Blackfish and Seabass. They can be had 5-10 miles out that time of the year and could be a pretty consistent bite. A 4-6 hour trip for them would be reasonable.
