Default Wrightsville Beach Area Fishing

Just purchased a new 18 ft scout. Wondering if anyone could fill me in a few places to do some inshore early spring fishing around the Wilmington/Southport NC areas. Any help is appreciated!!

I grew up fishing that area. You may want to try and narrow things down a little though--in your title you ask about Wrightsville Beach but in your post you say Wilmington/Southport, which are pretty far apart. Fishing the Cape Fear River from Southport all the way up to Wilmington is one thing, fishing the Intracoastal Waterway from Carolina Beach to Wrightsville is entirely another.
Usually there's a good speckled trout bite around the jetties at Wrightsville Beach Inlet across from the Coast Guard station, and it won't be long before the bluefish and Spanish mackerel start moving in, plus there should be some whiting (Virginia mullet) in the deep holes around the backside of the inlet--great eating fish that a lot of people overlook. There are also trout and red drum back in the creeks that feed into the waterway.
Hope this helps, good luck and congrats on the new boat, I ran an 18-foot Scout for a few seasons and was pretty happy with it...
