Keep Alive bait tanks?
Searched forum for opinions on Keep Alive bait tanks but didn't find much. Is anyone using them and if so what is your opinion? Currently i use a portable tank and hang the water in-take over the side when stopped but it is a pain in the a** . If i do a long run to the fishing hole the baits just slosh around without any aeration or fresh water......use greenies, sardines and finger mullet

I have a Keep Alive 18 gal. oval tank that I bought at the Dania Marine Fleamarket a few years ago. I had plumbed it for flow through with a transom pump on a previous boat. I removed the fittings a couple years ago and have caps on the intake and outfall holes to use it as a portable tank with an aerator pump. It works ok with the bucket bridgade, but is a PITA, as you observed. The tank is well made and has held up to ~5 years of intermittent use. The Florida sun has browned the clear tank lid a little, but otherwise, its in excellent condition. BTW, West Marine in West Palm Beach has a closeout on transom mounted livewell pumps. I picked up a 700gph Rule with the scoop mount for $17 last week. It has a clip to take the pump off the transom when the livewell not being used.

They work pretty well. It helps to put 5 or 10 gallons of fresh water in every now and again but ive have pretty good luck with mine.
