Default modifying z-wing to track outside of boat

I have read that you can modify the fins on the z-wings so that they will swim off to the side (outside) of the boat. I am wondering if anyone has done this, and if it is really true?

If it is, I am thinking about the possibility of cleating off a z-wing on either side of the boat, and using the rods, connected to the outriggers, to go to these z-wings. Then I will have my usual two downriggers (with balls) at the back of the boat.

This is for wahoo trolling (or kingfish as we call them here in Barbados)

Drill a new hole to the left or right of the bracket and use it. Whatever side you drill the hole will dictate what side it pulls to.
