Default Florida Grouper in State Waters...

Im in Tampa Bay and Im a bit confused.

Grouper season in general is closed until March 31st and I know that grouper fishing in federal waters (beyond 9mile line) is closed indefinitely, but where are we with grouper fishing in state waters (less than 9miles)?

As of right now, on April 1st, can I keep my grouper in state water??? I had heard that once the federal closure went into effect "the state would soon follow suit and close state waters". Where are we with this?

Please help.............

As of right now the state waters reopen April 1st. The Gulf Council is trying to force the state (FWC) to go along with the Federal regs by both blaming the FWC for the new additional 6 month closure and by offering a deal where the Gulf Council will give us a 2 month federal waters season (October and November) if the state cooperates. In other words, trade a 10 month state waters only season for a 2 month state and federal waters season. There is no reason for the state to comply and a bajillion reasons not to.
