Default why don't you harpoon marlin

i was looking that people harpoon giant bluefin tuna and swordfish but they dont harpoon marlin(I'm talking about granders and very big fish).


i support catch and reales i'm just curios

but what if someone had a 1000+(you want to kill it) marlin why they use a fly gaff instead of a harpoon

I wouldn't say that they don't harpoon marlins. There are several other videos on YouTube about spearfishing marlins as well...

19' Bayliner angler catches 1200lb Blue Marlin on a handline tows him into gulf stream and he gets pulled to Cuba and then becomes the new leader of Cuba LOL

Why would someone eat a Marlin oh nevermind they eat kingfish too BLAH

OK, while a 1K Marlin is no easy fish, they don't have quite the strength of a similar size Tuna or Swordfish. You don't want a strong fish in your boat unless it's dead.

Probably because most people taking a grander marlin are either in a tournament or igfa considerations, if the tournament is run by iggfa rules as most are harpoons diqualify the fish. A fish of that size in most marlin tournaments a harpooned fish is disqualified for tournaments or record considrations. whereas bluefins andd swordfish the main concern is getting the meat in the boat. A record bluefin or swordfish to be considered would have to be gaffed not harpooned.
