Default Kite fishing question?

OK, right up front, I fish freshwater in the great lakes and know very little about rigging kites.
Here is my question; If I were to rig a kite for the drift, once out away from the boat, would it be possible to get a 3/4 ounce harness down 20-30 feet? My goal plain and simple would be to get a couple of rigs out away from the boat.

Just thought I would ask.

Just put a rubber core sinker on the leader to weigh the rig down a bit. You'll just have to put the rubber core on after you feed the line thru the kite clip. That should allow you to drop the line under the surface.

Thanks so much for the reply. I may give this a shot.

Worst case my five year old daughter can fly a kite while we fish!!
