Default Boatersworld on Ebay

Has anyone else had this problem? I bid on and won a Penn 15 KG two speed reel for 222.50. This surprised me because in watching these auctions, that is usually lower than their reserve price. When I tried to checkout, the checkout procedure never worked. My emails were not returned. A phone call to customer service was not helpfull at all. In reading their feedback, I am not the only one this has happened to , but I don't know the details of the other bidders ("customers") interactions. Color me more than a little disappointed.

Progeny,
Had the EXACT same results as you in dealing w/Boater's. Tried twice (unsuccessfullY) to pay via their checkout, called their customer service. Talked to an obvious immigrant, had much trouble communicating. Finally told (I think) that since four days passed, I wasn't allowed to pay for the item.
Three weeks later, I get an email from Ebay that they're putting a negative "mark" on my account. I immediately emailed ebay explaining the above situation to remedy this. I'll never buy from boater's world again.

Just a supposition of course, but do you think they killed the deal by inaction because the price was low?

You should report any kind of activity like that to an Ebay moderator immediatley. The longer you wait the less leverage you have when it gets dirty.

I had the same type of problem also, since then I avoid Boatersworld on Ebay.
I go to ebay looking for a deal and If I wanted a new item for regular price I would just go to the store, or some other store, and buy it right there.

I seem to had the same experience but with a happy ending.
As posted above I to could not checkout through the normal way and had to call their customer support number. The staffer I talked to said that their auto checkout feature was giving everyone problems. I gave my CC number, e-bay item number, buyer name and my item was at my house in 2 days.

i have had good dealings with boaters world on e-bay, but a look at thier feedback rating would make most people wary.

I used to work at a boatersworld. You problably don't want to buy anything that boatersworld puts on ebay because the only reason it is for sale there is because something is wrong or missing. They have over 100 stores and a website, they put stuff on Ebay that they can't sell anyother way. Well I shouldn't say you shouldn't buy anything of there's off Ebay but make sure its a good deal because there's a REASON it cheaper than normal. As far as problems with customer service don't hold it against the stores because the whole internet side of boatersworld is basicly a different company run from California (Boatersworld headquarters are in Maryland) Overall Boatersworld is a good company Ebay is just their way of getting rid of the odds and ends.

Ditto
"Reserve price" is same as or close to "Buy it Now price". IMO..Not a good deal or even a "auction"

Boatersworld service is lousy, but at least the prices are better then Boat US/West Marine. I try not to deal with either unless I have too.
