Default What baits/lures will you be taking offshore this weekend?

It looks like a fair number of us will be going offshore chasing tuna/wahoo/mackeral and whatever bites our line, this Easter weekend. I am curious as to what baits, lures, rigs you will be taking with you, and how many of each. What do you think you need, and how many of them do you need. What colors are you taking (and more importantly, what have you heard is working). Most interested for Big Rock and other areas around Morehead City.
Thanks,
Doug

I usually use a mix of seawitches, island lures (bullet heads), little stubbies, and always have a way back ceader plug. mix and match the colors by whats gettin' the hits. Blue & white, red and black, red and white, green and yellow, and throw in a diving plug if I get hits on the downrigger. Heard a lot of hits on pink and white and chartuse. I got most of my hits on red and white/red and black two weeks ago. Blue and white got the next most, with one hit on a yellow and blue.... (Don't have many pink lures . But then my wife doesn't like my 8-12 hour fishin' trips so she don't pick my lures....) After all I've been hearing about pink, I'm going to try one this weekend and see how it works....

Bought a cedar plug a while ago and thought I'd try one out this season. The hole in the back end isn't large enough for a ring eye of a hook to go through it but I prefer fishing mono. Are you just using a needle eyed hook for your cedar plugs?

Yeah, most cedar plugs only let you fish those needle eye hooks. If you get a fish in the boat, you need to check to see if the mono has any signs of damage. Might be a good idea to just cut off about 1/2 inch of the leader and re-crimp the hook to if after a nice fish.

Another tip for using a ceder plug is if it was getting hits and your still getting them on other baits, but haven't gotten one on the plug in a long time... You probably don't have a ceder plug anymore. Have had thet happen a few times already this year. Always have good luck on a way back ceder plug. Gets hits when nothing else in the spread will. Forgot to say that I i had some monster hits last week on a fake ballihoo spreader bar. They hit the cener of the baits so no hook ups but was fun to watch it get thrown 4' out of the water a few times...
