Default Offshore Tackle Store in Boston?

I'm going to be in Boston tomorrow and need to pick up some supplies. Any suggestions for a large supplier of offshore gear new downtown? Also, how about boating supplies too?

Any help is appreciated!

I think you might be out of luck. There is an orvis shop as well as firefly outfitters but they are mostly fly and Light Tackle.

unless you can get down to the cape area, you may be SOL. I think there may be some stuff on the north shore... try posting in the Northeast section for some guys who know that area.... south shore doesn't have much...

gloucester is only like 30 mins away and the Fishermans outfitter will have just about anything you need.
www.fishermansoutfitter.com I'm not affiliated, I just really like that place.

Moynihans Marine in Weymouth has a good selection of offshore stuff and Russ knows his stuff. It is on Route 18, not too far south from the old shipyard.

Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro is an alternative. I am not a big fan of Bass Pro Shops other than the visual tour of the store which is an event within it's self. The staff is moderately knowledgable about "offshore" fishing. They are fairly good at inshore fishing.

My knock on them is that they are full retail price for a lot of junk quality gear and some limited good quality stuff. If you are knowledgable enough to seperate junk from quality.... and you don't mind paying bust out retail (given you live in Bermuda, bust out retail may in fact be pretty cheap by comparision), the BPS may be an alternative.

If you need help from the sales staff to chose the correct quality gear, then go see John and Joe at Fishermans Outfitter in Gloucester. If they can't help you there are a few other shops that cater to commercial guys.... if you can't find it in Gloucester, it doesn't exist to be caught in our waters.

There is a branch of Fishermens Outfitter in Plymouth. Might be your best bet.
