Any chesapeake bay fishing people here? I like cruising/fishing the bay from Kipoteke va. to Kent Island. Seems like plenty of talk fishing everywhere but not too much Chesapeake bay talk here.

Welcome
Yes there are plenty of Chesapeake Bay fisherman here. I too love that CBBT during the winter and almost any time of year.
Wish you the best.

Hey crabman,
Yea I fish the lower Chesapeake too, my brother keeps his boat in Little Creek. I would expect that most of the Chesapeake hard cores spend more time on the Tidal Fish board though. There are some Chesapeake regulars here though.

I fish the mid bay. Although I hope for at least one run to either the lower bay or to ocean this summer. Most people from the Chesapeake area who view this board talk their fishing on the local fishing board: http://www.tidalfish.com

I run out of Middle River. Haven't fished my current boat in the bay much, but I'm itching to cut the shrink wrap off and giving the early rockfishing a shot. Most of my bay boating is family cruising/overnighters, etc. However, I do get very excited about trailering the boat to the beach and trolling for tuna. This is my second year with this boat and can't wait to get it offshore again. Hope to do some tuna trolling in June (if the fish show). Will definately fish the Tuna Tourney again this year (if the weather is good). also, hope to do some tuna chunking in Aug./sept./Oct.. B-Faithful, have you ever trailered to the beach and gone offshore?

Another vote for Tidalfish. More fish-talk there, and more boat-talk here.

The bay action is just starting to heat up. Although the Flats haven't really turned on yet, the trolling season is just around the corner. TF is a great message board. I go by TopCat on there. Have learned a lot, met some great guys & look forward to meeting more. I'm actually on there more than here. Both boards have their up sides. As has been said, TF is more of a regional fishing board whereas THT is more of a boating board, not to mention the Sand Bar!

We often go over the bridge from VB and put in at the concrete ships. My boat is over the 8' width limit so I would like to put in on the southern side if you will. When do the trout and croaker show up in the James river, and where is a good place to put in?
