Hi All.
I have been going through all my reels and doing the annual maintenance. All was well until I was tearing down my 113HSP. I got all of it apart except that I can't figure out how the heck to separate the right side (handle side) case from the spool! The frame comes apart and I am left with a side case and a spool. Any help would be appreciated!

if memory serves me right.....if you have one side plate off the spool should just slide off the other side. corrision might be holding it in place. i might be wrong but i'd just lube it up and pull like hell.
good luck

I pulled it quite a bit, it's not that old really. I'll try it again. I agree - I was suprised when it didn't budge. I have a brand new out of the boc 113- I may crack it open and see what happens. That will tell me if i have something going on with the other one.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Here is the Penn exploded drawing of the reel.
http://www.pennreels.com/Current%20E...hlw-113hsp.pdf
It verifies there is nothing holding the spool axle from sliding off the pinion gear which appears to be stuck on the axle. or the axle could be stuck in the bearing. either way it is designed to slide off.
I can't see where you could hurt it by tapping on the inside of the clicker side of the spool with a lead weight.

Give it a shot of liquid wrench or similar, let it sit overnight. If you give it a rap to loosen it be careful. Have you been out yet? Bro. inlaw is headed out in a.m. crossing his fingers. New boat?

Allright I'll try that tonight. Nope haven't been out yet. Getting my moneys worth out of the extra 10 bucks for the door in the shrink wrap. Been working on stuff so that when this awful weather breaks suddenly, I won;t be saying damn I wish I was ready. If we get a day in the high 40's and wind 15 or less I'm out.
