Default Quantum Cabo PT Reels - Anyone use one yet?

I just purchased a quantum Cabo PT and was wondering if anyone like them or had any complaints about them. Wanted a Stella but couldn't afford the extra $300 for it.
Thanks,
Pete

Absolutely love them!!!!!!!!!! We were fortunate enought to test them for about a year before they came on the market. We have fished numerous charters in that time and have not had a single problem. We have fought and landed 100 lb yellowfin on them with no problem. There were times when a big tuna was about to spool it and we woudl just crank down on the drag and stop him. Quantum made great strides when the built these new spinning reels.

Capt. Chris,

I had packaged mine back up to send it back because I was unsure of it when it arrived today. I thought the reeling action on it would have been alot smoother than it was. I guess I'll stick with it and give it a try for the season. I purchased the Cabo PT40 it looks great and seems to be constructed nice as well. However compared to my Shimano Stradic the reeling is no where near as nice. However I am really interested in the drag while fighting some dolphin etc.
Thanks

This one caught my eye yesterday. Looks sorta like the Diawa Saltiga that goes for $800. Will be interested to hear more on the reel's performance.

It's a Quantum, that should tell you all you need to know about how it'll handle salt.

This new line of quantum reels is the "reel" deal. Lets face it, quantum has been behind the other big names is technology, especially in saltwater. They have spent years on this line and I think they hit the ball out of the park. We literally fishied with the trolling reels and spinning reels for almost a year. We are a charter boat out of venice, LA. They were put to the test with regards to every aspect of the reel from salt tolerance to drag performance and the performed great. We have given several spinning reels to other charter captains and the also can not believe the performance. Give this new line a chance and I think you will be happy. By the way I am not paid by Quantum!!!. In the charter business you must have equipment that is durable and trust worthy.

I had a 16 yr old Quantum surf reel strip a gear this fall in Montauk. I sent it back but they had no parts, so they sent a new one. Caught a lot of blues on it. I would sooner have it than the Penns I threw in the trash.
