Default Albacore w/ backup plan

Gonna head down to Morehead this Sat. in search of Albacore. We'll head out the inlet , then over toward Cape Lookout , maybe all the way into the hook. I hope to be wore out from pulling those 5 - 12 pounders in. Hopefully , those will be the first fish in my new boat.

If the wind's gonna blow like hell , we'll take my buddies boat to Weldon and go after shad.

First fishin trip of the year , gonna go somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, just got back. Found plenty of birds eating remnants and fairly large schools of Albacore. They seemed very skitish. We hooked 6, boated 4. We eased out in front of them and when they got in casting range you got one chance to make a perfect cast. They were 10#, 9#, and 2 were 8.5#. They pull like a mother ( 12# test ) and usually made at least 3 runs. Average fight was 10 mins. Got that pretty white floor bloody as hell, great.

Boat performed flawlessly, over 12 hours on motor now. A great day on the water, the wind was from the east. Next time we'll hope for west wind.

Wind from the east, fishing is the least - wind from the west , fishing's the best.
