Default Momoi Diamond vs. Momoi Hi-Catch Mono?

Has anybody tried both of these lines? I was wondering if the Diamond is really worth twice as much as the Hi-Catch Mono?

I swithed to diamond last year and was surprised how strong it is. Well worth the money and in the long run its not that much considering what you have into a boat, rods, reels etc. Your only as good as your weakest link and that is usually the line. Im sold on momoi diamond and seaguar floro.

Thanks for the advice re: Diamond line. I had pretty much made up my mind to go that way, but wanted some reinforcement/advice before loading up 6 reels with fresh line for the upcoming season.

Question regarding the Diamond, I noticed that the diameter is slightly larger than most lines of the same weight class and would therefore suspect that taht is part of where it is getting it's strength. This dia. increase will also chew up some line capactiy so what are most of you putting on 30TW size reels, 30/40/50? I normally run 50 on them and was thinking about going with the 40 Diamond. Any thoughts?

Blue, what you think? You know where and how I typically fish. What about trolling livies around the floaters?

I use the Hi-Catch, I'm willing to pay the extra for Diamond but so far I haven't had a single problem with the Hi-Catch, how can it be better than that.

It is a much stronger line than the capacity states. The 16 is much stronger than many other manufacturers 20 and the 20 is closer to a 30. If it is a little big dont be afraid to go down a size to increase capacity. You wont have to change it out as often either.

The average breaking strength of the 30 lb Diamond is nearly 50 lbs, so if you are now putting 50 on your 30TW's, you will gain significant line capacity with little, if any, loss of strength. You could put 40 lb on them, still gain line capacity over the 50 lb you're now using, and get over 65 lbs average breaking strength.

Thanks rainmaker. The 30TW's normally hold 650 of 50# berkley big game so that gives me something to base it on.

We use the Diamond, and just recently you can get it in Hi-Vis yellow. Used to be just in blue. We got 800yds on our Tiagra 30WLRS'. They were a little too full, so ended up peeling some of it back off. I would guess we have about 750yds on there now. We have been fishing the Diamond for 3yrs. and love it.
