Default Attaching Breakaway Cannons

The OEM says that you should duct tape their breakaway cannons to the rod above the spinning reel loaded with spectra. Besides wrapping and painting them like a regular rod guide, does anything come to mind that would better than the tape? Three setups are being delivered to me next week at the boat for immediate use on tuna, hopefully.

Zip ties at least until you get comfortable with them?
