Default Fishing in Manzanillo

Hi , Im heading to Manzanillo April 12-20th.
I guess this might be late for sailfish??
Anybody with experience with charter captains here, should I be thinking about other fish, how much should be a day trip be worth.
Also if you've fished here should 4 of us go in one boat or is it cheap enough to take two boats and incease our chances?
Thanks
Ken

I keep my boat in Barra de Navidad, so I fish the same places that the Manzanillo fleet does, although I think I have the equipment to see the structure better than 99%, and usually do better for this reason.

Could be some tuna and marlin around, but recent the reports have been pretty dreary for quite some time.
Lots of long liners.

$500-600 is normal for a cruiser, $175 with tip for a panga.

Boats at the big hotels/golf course at the north end of town are your best bet to find a boat/captain half worth his salt, but don't expect much. (Hotels= Las Hadas, La Sierra)

There is a underwater moutain range that runs north to south west with 30 high spots running 300-450 feet deep 8-11 miles out with a 5000 ft deep canyon called the ManzanilloTrench, that borders these high spots on their the western border, and its anout 1300 feet deep on the inshore side the the H spots.

From the hotel at Santiago Bay/Pt I would head about 8 miles to
19 02.799 105 39.754

and set a trolling or crusing course to
18 54.800 104 33.200

Watching for birds

This course will take you over the 85% high spots, so if you have a hand held gps take it as chances are the capt. won't.

Sorry, I can't help more, but this is the truth.
