Default Opinions on Makaira 20's for Bahamas Marlin

So, I was thinking about a pair of lighter outfits for Bahamas blue marlin trolling other than my current Penn International 30W's. I hate to fight heavy, cumbersome tackle. Thought about Okuma Makaira 20's loaded with 80# braid to a 100 yard topshot of 80# momoi mono thinking that the 55# drag capability of this reel would easily accommodate a sustained drag of 25#'s or so. I tend to fish tackle on the lighter side of average, but will these reels have the line capacity and grunt to do the job in most cases, or in any case at all? Or am I just thinking too far out of the box? What are your opinions?

What area of the Bahamas? My experience with light gear was lost fish to the sharks...I started light but moved up. I was not specific in targeting Marlin though, it was all Wahoo, Mahi, and Tuna in the TOTO.

That's pretty light gear, your going to get dumped regularly. Food fish will get sharked more frequently. Only way around is to use teasers and pitch bait. Gives you option to see the fish before hooking. Pitch the 80 if she's big or 20 if less than 250lbs. I was in your predicament 10 years ago , tried internationals 30 wides, got dumped bad in chub and almost 5 hr fight in abaco changed my mind.

While I haven't fished the Bahamas, my Makira 30s fit 600yds of 80lb hollo and 200yds of 80lb mono just for reference, and they have more than enough drag to handle 80lb in a sustained fight as we hooked more than our share of BFT on them, as well had a BM close to 400 on it, reel did fine, but the 80lb leader didn't last long.
