Hope everyone is well. I recently purchased a Avet G2 MXL single speed reel. Loaded it with 50lb braid and can not be happier with my purchase. I took it out and used it for the first time this weekend and have a few questions. There is a lever with multiple settings for the drag. I believe I had it all the way at the strongest drag, but yet with a big fish on the line, the braid was peeling off the reel. Is there a way to tighten the drag or a setting where it does not drag at all?

Pull the drag lever all the way back to free spool and adjust it with the knob. Righty tighty lefty loosey. That’s very basic and it’s the same on every lever drag I’ve ever owned. Max drag on that model is around 20 lbs I think.

Just be sure not to overtighten the knob or you can damage the pinion bearing, and as previously mentioned you only adjust the preset knob when you have the lever pulled back into freespool. Also you have to push the button on the side of the lever to get the lever all the way to the full position.
To set it I would put it in freespool, turn the knob a few clicks, then push the lever all the way to the full position (have to push button in), then pull your line until you can barely get the drag to slip, That will be around 10-12lbs usually. Then your set. Fish the reel at the strike position (lever pushed all the way forward without pushing the button in) and in the event you want you to apply more drag, push the button in and push the lever all the way to full....
