Default Fish Rules App

Just a heads up, the fish rules app is displaying incorrect information. It says red snapper has no closed season in federal waters which is obviously incorrect.

My location is Texas FYI. The governor shut down the nonessential employees of TXPW so maybe that’s why it is showing incorrect information. Just wanted to warn people to double check the regulations.

What is with this app? I have to tell it my location EVERY TIME I OPEN IT. If i close it for an hour, then re-open, I have to tell it again. I’m always in the same general location. I think it should remember. Says Red Snapper is closed over here.

But location services only works if you are near cell or wifi service so that would make it useless 50 miles off the coast. Regardless, that doesn’t actually change the issue. Its working for you because you are giving it your locaton every time you open it, just through an automatic thing. I have that automatic thing turned off on all my stuff. Phone and apps doesn’t need to know where I am, although they do anyway. My point is, I tell it the location I want the RULES for and it should just remember that location. If I go somewhere else, I should tell it where I am there. I shouldn’t have to tell it 20 minutes from now either. Its not pulling the info down from the web. I know because I do use it on the water and it still works (manually) but I still have to point to it every time. I have moved the marker all over the map hundreds of miles and the available fish do not change. The rules are not that granular. I am only fishing in a 50x50 mile area anyway.

Another thing I would like to see is the ability to turn off anything you do NOT intend to catch/ keep. There are SO MANY SHARKS, it takes up valuable time to scroll past them. There are lots of things that are closed. I really only need to see what I CAN or want to keep. I would like that to be user adjustable but they don’t even answer emails.

I agree. I get pissed everytime I open it because I have to keep giving it my location. I also leave location services turned off on my phone unless I need it.

You can set up "favorites" for fish. When you do this all you favorites will be listed at the top so you don't have to scroll through the entire list....

You have it set to state waters, it says “see fed” that means you’re not in fed.

Fed Snapper is still open for charter and head boats. There is no distinction in the app to differentiate between rec and charter boats so...... Technically the season is still open.
