Default Navionics Relief Shading vs. CMOR mapping

The CMOR mapping appears to be unbelievable information. I plan to add this to one of my Simrad units. My interests are for bottom fishing. Now, I see that Navionics has a similar thing called relief shading. Has anyone else used or compared these two? Benefits from either one? Is the Navionics just as good?

Download the navionics app on your phone and use it for the two week free trial. It's quite good, took it out lobstering for mini-season and compared to CMOR on the plotter, obviously the plotter is a bigger screen with more resolution than my phone but the data is essentially identical save what CMOR is mapping themselves.

I'm not sure the Navionics relief shading is available as a chip for your unit, since they're a division of Garmin it's the Garmin map you're actually buying which includes the same data, I think it's $350. Could be wrong on that but for $15 a year for mostly the same data on a mobile device, the Navionics app is an absolute steal.

If Iím not mistaken it looked like it was included in the platinum package for $199. I may try to update itíll my chip. Donít know if it will overlay or what will happen on the display.

Can get relief shading on Navionics Platinum. Have it for my Raymarine Axiom. Just started using it. Love it

On the Navionics site it is included with the Platinum. $199 sounds way better than $700.
Not sure of it is available for Simrad though.

My Axiom came with the standard Navionics card. I was looking at CMOR and Strikelines. However was able to upgrade to the Navionics Platinum for $99.

Itís pretty nice. One thing I learned is itís much more useful in my PC at home to find the areas and mark spots to check out. Would be hard to do that on the plotter. Plus much rather do it on my sofa then in the 105 degree Louisiana heat.

I just popped the $14.99 for the relief shading and really liked it. CMOR has propriety SONAR with more detail and I think the Navionics relief shading is just the contours of the fishing chart with a better color scheme. I am a garmin user so hoping to see better integration in the future..... if not, Santa might bring me a standalone CMOR unit - hahhahah.

Side by side for the areas they both cover itís identical detail.

And Garmin sells the same thing as the navionics package as a chart download or SD card for their devices
