How to keep trolled feather lures from spinning

Sometimes, one of my bullet head feather lures will slowly rotate when trolling, giving me a mess of twisted line when I reel in. This happens with bullet heads like the Boone Tuna Treat, Zukers feathers, or Billy Baits. I'm going 5 knts and using 30 lb mono. I always put the lure in the water beside the boat first and try to tell if it's going to spin, but can't tell if it only rotates once or twice a minute. I've tried retying the knot to the lure and even tried clamping a 1/4oz weight to the hook bend. Do some feather lures just get "out of balance," or is there a sure way to keep them from spinning?

That's your issue, weve never had mackerel bite offs when using feathers and all of our rigs have ball bearing swivels, never had an issue with hookups either, as for the weeds it's just part of the game when trolling.
