Default Grand Cayman 7 mile beach

I am going to the Grand Cayman Island the 1st week of March and staying on 7 mile beach. I am being told that I could rent a kayak and paddle only 1/2 a mile out to the reef to fish. I can also paddle an additional 1/4 mile out from there and be behind the drop off where I could drop down deep vertical jigs and do well fishing there. Has anyone ever been there and done this before? Any advice on fishing there would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Barn

Theoretically yes, but they have large fish there. Nantucket sleigh ride?

I would go on a boat with a local.

Mike,
Have you been there before? If so could you recommend a local guide?
Thanks

There are good reefs offshore of 7 mile. I haven't fished them, but have many dives out there swimming from shore with a full load of diving gear. Lots of big fish.

Never from a kayak, but I have caught several 80-100 wahoo close enough to 7MB to swim to shore.

I own a home on Grand Cayman if you fish without a local guide all fish must be returned to the water unharmed...catch and release only...they have very stiff fines like in the $5,000 and up range.

I only fish there with a few locals and have dove with just about all the dive ops. on island so I can't help with a fishing guide.

If you have any questions which I might be able to answer feel free to PM me.
