Default Key west charters 12/23-12-30

My wife and I are staying in Key west 12/23-12/30. We are flying into KW, and dont have a car. Is there charters in KW? And who do you recommend? Looking to go offshore.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Adam

There are dozens of great captains to choose from, and of course lots of captains that are perpetually hungover and more than happy to troll for barracuda and kingfish all day and try to make it seem exciting.

If you want a larger diesel boat for offshore, I'd go with:

Brice Barr on the Double Down
Brad Simonds on the Southpaw
Billy Wickers on the Linda D IV

Brice and Brad are the sailfish whisperers. While most of the fleet are dragging dead baits around, they will have live baits flying off the kites or cruising an edge and sightfishing for tailing sails.
For a mixed bag of reef and trolling, Billy Wickers does a great job and will work hard for you.

For center consoles/light tackle boats there are several good choices:
Jack Walker
Robbie Delph
Billy Delph
Rush Maltz
Chris Trosset
Chris Mendola

All of those guys will work hard to put you on fish, solid chance they're already booked up for some of those dates but at least there's a starting point.

You do not need a car in Key West. You can Uber, taxi, or walk anywhere you need to go. It's a small island.

We went down to Key West over Thanksgiving, had a great time. Booked a couple of trips through "Key West Pro Guides" Jared Gulas was our guide. We did back country, he did a great job and put us on fish everywhere we dropped anchor. Based out of Hurricane Hole, had a great hook'em and cook'em after each trip. Check out their site.
Cheers,

I highly recommend Capt. Casey of Color Change Charters. I’ve been fishing with him for a few years now and have had nothing but great and fun trips

after seeing your post, I am trying to book a trip with Capt Casey for 1st weekend in January. I would like to do the reef/wreck trip. Is that a good trip for January?

Thank you all for your recommendations. We booked the Linda D iv charters and had a great trip. The guys are top notch. We caught plenty to eat and they worked hard trying to get us on tuna, even after having a week and a half of rain/wind the prevented the fleet from fishing. The weather cleared Christmas eve and we fished on the 25th. They did get us on a couple of big Bull sharks...... they were awesome. One hell-of-a fight. We highly recommend these guys if your in the keys. Adam

We ended up booking thru Capt Casey with Color Change Charters. Top notch! My wife and I caught more fish than the last 3 charters combined! She wants me to tell everyone she out fished me! As I type this. Well worth it. His boat cut thru the rough seas. Beautiful scenery!
