If only that Shark could muster up one last chomp.......

Marky mark 10-11-2019 11:49 PM

Seems a shame to kill it, can't imagine anyone eating it? Waste of a big shark at a time when sharks are really getting scarce.

What a dumb azz remark.....Sharks are scarce come to Louisiana behind the shrimp boats right now. Mako steaks are delicious and you clearly have no clue what the hell you're talking about and have clearly never fished Louisiana or know anything about sharks off Louisiana much less the gulf. Idiot.

Mako is really good eating, I'd love to catch one.

Very similar to sword fish. Best eating shark there is cause they don't piss through their skin.

woodbone 10-12-2019 07:37 AM

Yep caught a 263# a few years back and it was delicious

Classic25 10-12-2019 07:43 AM

What sharks are good to eat? I've heard Mako are very good. Never tried it but would like to some day... We catch Black tips, Lemon sharks and sand sharks. The internet is somewhat all over the place when it comes to whats good... Mako always shows up a s good to eat.

Thresher is pretty good too

Bullshipper 10-12-2019 08:37 AM

There are a few, but local names vary so much its hard to be specific. Sandy's, Bonita Shark, Threshers, Makos are a few and they mostly prey on good tasting live fish, on old carcasses.

Mako's are considered one of the Big 5 Trophy Sportfish, along with Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna and Mahi, aren't they?
