Default Bad clicker Avet LX 6.0

Recently bought another LX 6.0 and the clicker slips back into non-clicker mode after a clicks when I pull line from the reel under pressure. Tried opening up to the clicker mechanism but nothing obviously wrong with it. Itís like it is too loose or something. Anyone have ideas for an easy-ish fix for this? As in easier than going through the warranty process and forking out shipping etc.

The clickers are a weak point on the Avets , you could replace the clicker yourself , or send it to Triumphrick on here .

I'm not an expert, but it would appear you have a worn out clicker housing. It's a $3 part. You just need to figure out whether you have the old or new style clicker. Give Avet a call and they'll let you know which one you need.

Sounds like either it's missing a washer, a C clip, or the springs on the clicker are bad.

it's a simple fix. If you need help and are local to OC or Annapolis Alltackle can assist you. They sell and service a good bit of Avets.

Fairly certain it's none of those things. Weak/stretched springs would mean the clicker is quiet, wouldn't affect the clicker not staying locked into the "clicker on" position. The only way the washer is missing is if someone pulled the entire clicker apart and didn't put it back in when reassembling, that is possible. The C clip doesn't really affect the clicker locking into position. It just keeps the clicker button from falling out of the reel. Luckily, he can easily check to see whether the washer or c clip are missing with the reel apart.

The clicker housing is what the clicker button rides in. Once the "point" on the clicker housing wears out (circled in red), the clicker button moves between the "on" and "off" positions with very little resistance. Seeing that the OP mentioned his clicker seems "loose" and won't stay locked in the "clicker on" position led me to believe that the clicker housing has worn out.

Still just a best guess though...

Thanks guys, great suggestions. I’ll pull the reel apart and post pics. Brand new reel so hopefully the part is not worn out. It works but like I said it shifts back into a non-clicker mode once I pull a few inches of line off the spool. Basically the button won’t stay in clicker mode.

Didn't know it was brand new, I figured it was used. Doubt it is a worn clicker housing then.

Are you sure you're pushing it all the way into position though? The clicker housing might just be stiff and hard to get the clicker button into the correct position. Try pushing the knob very hard and see what it does.

If that doesn't do it, open it up again and see if something's missing.

I have fixed a few of my 6.0ís by taking the clicker apart and sanding the Teflon washers on some fine sand paper . Some seem to be a little on the thick side. I had the same problems and it took me a while to figure it out but this seem to fix my clickers on my avetís .

Great advice, I will try this. A little more friction I think is all it will take to fix.

Yeah it's really weird. I have the button pushed as hard as it will go. Going to open up again shortly

There should not be ANY play in that click pawl when lifted. If so, something is missing. and it will over or under ride the click gear on the spool....Do you have any newer spinningreels around? Most all of them ship with a few extra spool shims in them...those are great for filling the gap when one of these issues arise. They are also sent in various thicknesses, so you can play with them. You will know you have it right when you find the c-clip is nearly impossible to set!

Let me know if I can help
