Default Repainting outboard bracket

Need to refinish the outboard bracket on the boat (12 years old). It's starting loosen up and bubble up in spots.
What do I do to prep it and what kind of paint?

If the paint is failing to the point that you think 100% removal is the answer - the important thing is what you do afterwards. Once the paint is off I would give it a good scrubbing with simple green or the like, give the while thing a once over with 220 on an orbital and then another bath. Prime with an etch primer and follow the directions on the can - is normally a minimum of 12 hours before you can topcoat. And speaking of topcoats a single stage urethane is avery good answer - easy to apply, durable and affordable.

Good luck
