Default Places I can take the wife for vacation and fish

Is there places I can take the wife and the boat. Living just out of Atlanta ga we have always gone to the gulf for our vacations and fishing. Big bend to destin area. St George island seems to be our home away from home. But the wife wants to see new places. The keys for instance. Carolina coast. Northeast coast. Baja coast. And somewhere like Costa Rica works for us both.

Not Venice Louisiana
they don’t provide ice for the days catch
they will fish over you
They will send dad to the back of the bus
they will act like a oil field worker 10 mins before his shift ends

Bermuda really impressed me this year.

What is 'the boat'?

Since you haven't done the Keys I would consider that option. I have a friend who had his 46 foot Sea Ray hauled to West Palm beach from Georgia. He did the Keys and Port Lucaya in the Bahamas after setting out from the West Palm Beach area.

Check out this place...it seems to work pretty good for us when we need a getaway...

http://wannabinn.com/

It has a lot of old Florida charm and butts up to a nice state park.

Wife and I recently stayed at Bakers Key in Key Largo. Nice place, good restaurant, etc. We fished with Capt. Clyde Upchurch at Bud n' Mary's Marina in Islamaroda. I lost count at 30 snook, several redfish, and some other inshore stuff. Fished the Everglades Park and it's quite the experience. Capt Clyde can hook you up with other captains for offshore. He's been down there fishing 35+ years and knows the game.

His boat ain't real pretty, he doesn't wear white Costas, and you won't find any Salt Life stickers on his stuff, but he does catch fish!

Good luck!

If you are thinking about the Keys, I'd consider Islamorada, Key Largo, Marathon or Key West.

Biloxi. They fish the same area Venice guys do. Especially starting up this month with shrimp boat season. Biloxi has restaurants and entertainment to keep the Mrs. Busy. SideBet Sportfishing is one of the only guys doing this out of there. Plus it’s less than six hours from you or a 45 minute flight. Any of the casinos will pick up

I've lived in Florida for 42 years. I've avoided going to the Keys somehow until about 4 years ago. I went down for a week during lobster season, just after the mini season. I was really underwhelmed. With all the shit people talk about the keys and how great it is, I just wasn't impressed.

Well it also depends on your budget and what you want to spend.. Hatteras NC and fishing out of either Hatteras or Oregon Inlet is a good and reasonable choice.

dependent on budget- I would suggest los suenos or quepos in Costa Rica, tropic star lodge in Panama, Key West, or Cabo- have taken my wife to all of these choices- great fishing, accommodations, food and fishing

Everyone who visits THT are wealthy. Money is no object.

Except the guys buying 20 yrs old searay (not running).

Go to the keys. There is no other place like it on the mainland US. I'd recommend Islamorada.

I don't know your budget but if you are bringing your boat, you might consider renting a condo at Futura Yacht Club (reasonable $$ for the amenities). They have a very good ramp to launch and parking for the trailer - gated. It's walking distance to a few great eating/beverage establishments. I haven't stayed there in a few years as we can't get our current boat into the marina. The approach is only 3 to 3-1/2' deep; although there are other inboard boats in there. I'm more cautious.
Florida Keys Rentals Futura Yacht Club Islamorada

I have a friend that stays at La Jolla, also in Islamorada. We've hung out there with him and his wife. Seems like a nice place. Also walking distance to several establishments. Maybe a little cheaper, not sure.

You can make a day trip to Key West with the wife, maybe stop on the way at Bahia Honda for a little beach romance. One day is about all I can handle of Key West. They say Islamorada is a drinking town with a fishing problem; I'd say Key west is a drinking town with a drinking problem. If you want to enjoy the history and charm of Key West your best bet is on a weekday. Friday or Saturday if you want to party (but you can easily party any day).

At least one evening you should go to Lore Lei for drinks, great outdoor live music, and an amazing sunset.

If you decide to go there I can give you some boating/fishing help as well as more places to check out. Just send me a PM. Have fun!!

9:30 Delta Flight out of ATL puts you in Costa Rica 3 1/2 hours later, 1.5 hours to Los Suenos(beautiful Marriott there) plenty of boats to fish, Quepos is only another hour, more authentic, La Mariposa
is beautiful. Best fishing on the planet. Bermuda is great also( got married there TWICE), but if its rough its really rough. 2 1/2 hour flight fromATL, lots to see and do. Coin toss.

Try Panama! We host a lot of couples and families here at our private island lodge here in the middle of paradise! We have upscale very comfortable accommodations that the wife will like and an awesome chef that creates some excellent meals. We have three different white sand beaches and a jungle surrounding the lodge here on the island 12 miles off the Pacific coast. We organize full service all-inclusive VIP packages that handle everything from the moment you guys land in Panama City. Take a tour of the Panama Canal or the old Spanish fort that was sacked by Henry Morgan, stay at the 4 star Hilton in Panama City, awesome restaurants and shopping, lots to do in Panama City...it's like a little Miami! Plus the fishing is pretty good too.

Eastern North Carolina is nice. Not too hard to get around.. I'm out of Beaufort/Morehead City. We have few islands...not big but nice to pull up to. Shackleford has wild horses, Cape Lookout light house great place..and when its there shark island. Plus great fishing when the weather cooperates.

Always wanted to take my boat to the Keys. This June, we rented a THT house in Marathon. Just the wife and I. I live in Montgomery, so not really any further for you. Pulled our boat all the way to Marathon. Was, without a doubt, one of the best vacations we have ever done. Highly recommend. Great boating. Fishing was great. Just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
