Default Best Cabo San Lucas fishing charter

Looking for recommendations on a good fishing charter out of Cabo during the first week of October. Marlin is what we would like to go after. 4 people.

Dave Brackman on the Caliente for billfish . If the Finger Bank is going off ( October might be too early) , pay the extra fuel charge to go , it's absolutely worth it .

Renegade Mike, hands down.

He does not care how much fuel he burns and he HATES not catching fish.

I am not sure if he has any room.

He was pretty full when we booked with him later in October and we booked awhile ago.

Mike is the best charter captain I have ever fished with and is an absolute riot.

Captain Mike

We’ve had excellent luck with Minerva’s over the years. Great guys and always come back with the riggers full of flags.

Pieces is a good outfit , plenty of boats to choose from and very well organized.

The 31 Bertrams at Pisces are IMHO the best value in Cabo. Excellent captains, very well kept boats and tackle, great organized operation for a very reasonable price. Tracy Ann with captain Julio is my favorite boat in town. If you only have 2 fisherman then a Panga is a super alternative for a very different experience. Captain Juan on La Mosca is my recommendation there. I put my money where my mouth is, I have 4 trips booked in November and 4 more in January with the boats I just suggested.

Warning......there are lots of boats, captains and tackle that are plain junk in Cabo. Be aware, go see what you will be booking and ask around. It’s taken me 25 years to find what I know now.

There is an ass for every seat. I have fished with some of the boats recommended above and although we caught plenty of fish, I wouldn’t fish with them again. It’s about the entire experience for me. Due your du diligence to get what is tailored to you!

Keep this in mind, if you plan to target Marlin, it will be mostly stripes that time of year and they are usually found well within sight of land often times 3 miles from shore. The 70 foot Vikings, 31 Betrams and 20 foot Pangas are all fishing side by side. If you want to target the bigger tunas a run 20-50 miles off is customary and a Panga will be much less favorable lol....

We regularly catch blue and striped marlin, sailfish, yellowfin, wahoo, dorados and roosters from Pangas less than 10 miles from port and often just 3 miles or less off the beach!
