Thumbs up Surf fishing outer banks

Hey all,

I am going to the outer banks August 24th to August 31st. I was hoping to hear if anyone has had any luck surf fishing, fish people are catching, and what baits people are having luck with? I have a 1.5 year old so going out on a charter isn't really an option so surf fishing will be as good as it gets for me.

Just got back from pine island. Fish the wash with high low rig and small hooks. Plenty of "surf perch" to provide plenty of action. Also caught flounder and a ray. Small strips of spot or perch worked best. Work the end of the tides.

Check in the local tackle shops like Whalebone, Hatteras Jack's, Red Drum, before you go to see what's biting.
Buy some lures, ask questions.......ICM

20# flurocarbon high low rig (river rig) with #8 circle hooks and a small piece of fishbites will keep you in fish all day. dont cast over the fish. black drum, red drum, sea mullet, pompano, flounder are all right at your feet at the first lip.
