Default Grand Cay August

Headed to GC for first time during summer. As I understand it there is very little to do from a trolling point of view.

Thinking we should focus on diving and inshore fishing?

What kind of bait should I bring?

i know mutton should still be inshore/near shore. We used conch last time.

What else am I missing? Tips tricks thoughts?

You can look for packs of birds if you want to try the tuna. I've caught the yellowfin before in August but it is very hit or miss. As far as bottom fishing, your usual bottom bait will work. Sardines, cigars, gogs, squid, etc. As you stated the conch guts you can get over there work well, too. I would bring a variety and see if one is working better than another. Deep dropping can also be fun. If you don't have an electric reel you can drop just on the deep side on the edge in 3-400' and usually catch yellow eyes. Also, lobster is open and there are plenty to be caught on the shallow reef. Have fun. I love it there.

When are you heading over? A group of us (3 boats) are heading over Sunday (8/18) and staying until Thursday. JaxBch
