Default WTB - New Gaff

Looking for a 6ft, 2 3/4"-3" gaff. Like the idea of the 2 3/4". Want a good quality. For gaffing kings, AJs, dolphin, that kinda thing. I have another wider gap gaff I keep on the boat for other stuff.

Suggestions?

Cuda seems fine if you lookin for a carbon fiber. If not I'd just get the connley I've had one for a while now still going strong. Plus I think it floats in case you have butter fingers.

We use blackfin gaffs on the boat from 6 foot all the way to a 12 footer. Lightweight but sturdy and good quality

Honestly the aftco gaffs with the foam handles have done me well. I have a super nice marsh tacky gaff, but the rubber gimbal piece fell off, and it gets slippery when wet. You can compress the aftco foam grips even with wet hands

Gaffs, Nets & Releases

The united composites gaff from Charkbait is the deadliest in my arsenal. I own 8 gaffs total but the little 2-1/2” UC gaff gets used 90% of the time. If you ask they will put a gimbal butt on it. Being able to rack the gaff in an empty rod holder during the fight and just snatch it out at the last second is perfect. I fish HST wahoo solo so I get to crank the reel, leader and gaff all while still piloting the boat. My little UC gaff is always on the ready.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just ordered one from charkbait. The 6ft 2 1/2 hook. I liked the hooks on the black fin better. But went with the charkbait. We’ll see.

Marsh Tacky. I have three of their 6' 2" gaffs and are the best I have ever used.

for the fish you speak of. I have an aftco 6' it's brown fiberglass with black rope about 2' on the handle end & most important the hook is only about 2.5" which is perfect for not so thick fish. I have several gaffs on my boat & this one gets a lot of use especially on gaffer mahi

My Charkbait gaff was just delivered. I really like it. Super light weight. Had threaded nylon cord on the handle. Love the smaller hook. Thanks for all the advice. Gonna paint the fiberglass part to match my boat color...Gotta stick something with it. Headed to Orange Beach AL next Wednesday for 5 days. Maybe break it in.

I can't for the life of me get into custom gaffs. We haul tuna over the side and they get dinged, bent, dropped, etc.

Aftco all the way.

Just get your boat name on a clear sticker, put it on the glass blank and top it with flex coat to make it permanent.

Glad you like the gaff, they’re sort of unique with that hook. Seriously “sticky”. If I ever lose or break mine I’ll get another right away. I own AFTCO and Marsh Tacky gaffs in the larger sizes but the little UC gaff gets most of the action.

Thanks again. I really think I'm gonna like it. Super light weight. Love the smaller hook.
