No luck reaching them by email or phone, which sucks because they have everything I'm looking for "in stock" and offer international shipping.

I would rather not get stuck waiting for my gear as everyone else seems to be doing these days due to their system upgrade.

Was wondering if anyone knows an alternative website which has a wide offering of rods and reels etc?

Thanks!
I can almost guarantee you nothing you're looking for is "in stock"

Wish I saw this thread sooner... I made a TD order of some random terminal tackle on Aug 6th. Recieved my package minus 2 items. Here it is 16 days later and 5 phone calls (3 of which were answered) Guy says he will cancel and refund the rest of the order and refund my shipping fee. We will see.. lol. I have never had a problem there before but after this I think Im done with them.

I've never had such a hard time spending money LOL. I've called 3 places to check on inventory before placing an order and have been told let us check and we will call you back. NO return calls in 2 days. FSS is business that good they don't need more customers? I know its only a $1,000 order but still dang!!!!!

They used to be decent, sometimes companies fall apart and stop caring and that sometime for TackleDirect is this year

I think maybe they were bought or reorganized
In the past my orders would have my credit card saying pending, until they actually shipped and sent a tracking number.

Now the sale goes through even before they have shipped item and my charges don't all say TackleDirect anymore, some say TDLLC or something similar.

Anyway, if their new "shipping control program" is the model that bills immediately and ships whenever they get it in stock, I don't think it is going to go over well in the long run.

After calling every vendor Momoi had listed looking for 3000 yrd 100lb hollow core and none having it or websites no longer in service I broke down and called tackle direct. Waited 13 mins on hold before actual person answered the phone but once the guy did pick up he went and checked to see if they had it came back in a few mins and said it was in his hand. Took my order and CC number said it would ship out same day. We will see hopefully it does and arrives soon. No idea what’s going on with the business but many times a business outgrows it’s capabilities and causes problems or if it did get sold new owners try and cut cost to improve margins and only end up sinking the business. Hopefully my stuff shows up

Funny you said that, I got a call from them about an hour ago, I don't have anymore pending orders they were just calling to apologizing for the last few months of service due to a new system and some changes. From the sound of it the system is a little screwy still, she didn't try and pull me back in but said in time things will be back to normal and the backorder and email notification situations will be handled differently which has been my main issue the last 3-4 orders not even being notified of a backordered item and allowing you to order an "in stock" item that doesnt ship for a month. I am going to give them another chance but am going to wait a while, she wasn't denying that orders placed in the next few weeks will be perfect but that they will be back to the standard that I remember years back. Who knows, maybe that's a lie lol but it sounded like a genuine attempt to let me know they are not liking the issues they are having either and its not just complete neglect like its seemed like to me

Everyone and every business makes mistakes. More importantly it’s what you do about them moving forward. Sounds like at least they are open about the issues which is good. Hopefully they get squared away.

odd they have lots of help in the store and warehouse , they are only 15 minutes from me. I am there every few weeks..but the store displays have not been fully stocked as in the past, they said working on a new system , they did have the rod I wanted in stock in the back warehouse..what I know its still the same owner he also has a large beach shop in Ocean City a few miles away..and there has been talk of them moving the warehouse part of the store out to Egg Harbor City in the distant future

Received my hollow core braid today as promised. Even got an email from them telling me it had arrived. Hopefully they can continue on this path.

No excuse for not maintaining stock. New system or not how much effort does it take to look at a display and see half the shelves are empty and reorder?

I’ve been following this thread from it’s inception. I don’t understand why people are defending TD. I have liked working with them through time, and want to continue to like them. But this is nuts. Bad service is not a good idea. Whatever they changed,it’s been radical it seems. Former business owner here,so I do have some knowledge of how this can happen. Just really seems stupid and irresponsible.

The same reason I still go to Walmart after I say I'm not going back, assuming things get back on track I'm not stubborn enough to go out of my way to order from 3 different places just to "stick it to the man". As of right now and the foreseeable future I wont be ordering from them, but assuming things get back in line I'm sure I will again one day just for convenience even though my last 3 orders were a total shit show

I have recently placed a bunch of orders from them. It has been hit or miss. Couple times they shipped out the same or next day and with regular UPS because I am close I got them the next day. Other orders with all the items I had ordered showed in stock status and it took them three days to ship out. They also sent the wrong color jig on one item I ordered and I sent them an email to notify them of that but I did not intend on bothering with returning the color shipped. Week later not a response. It will not be hard for me to shop somewhere else if they have a competitive price/selection and better CS.

Update: I got a response about the wrong lure finally. They offered and sent me the one I ordered except I got it today and it is still the same wrong color. Doh!

This is the email I sent them.

I just received the item you sent; however it was again the same wrong color you had shipped out previously. I was looking for a purple in that size. I again received a Bone color one. Perhaps, sorting lures by color is not the best place to assign a color blind employee. I do have a smaller purple one that I had ordered and can show you proof that it is not I that can’t tell the difference. In fact, the box on the back has a sticker from the manufacturer that lists it as Bone color and a Tackle Direct sticker that has it listed as purple. It has a mark on the factory sticker that almost makes it look like someone had crossed it out. Send me a shipping label and I will send it back to you.

Furthermore, I called yesterday concerning an order from weeks ago that was only partially fulfilled. I was informed of the “issues with your new system” of which I had been warned via some fishing and boating forums with customers with the same complaint. The person I spoke to seemed somewhat indifferent.

Everything I ordered was listed as in stock at the time I placed the order. In that phone follow up, I was informed that one of the items was discontinued. No answer as to when I was to be notified, nor the time frame of one of the other items. The third item I was informed was being shipped that day and have yet to receive a notification that has taken place.

The order number is W-754790. I asked for a refund on the;

TUF-LINE Western Filament Kevlar Cord at $14.99

Mold Craft Squirt Squid Lure 6in Unrigged – Green was the item for which no ETA could be given so I asked for a refund on that also. The price on that was $12.99.

My credit card only shows one refund initiated for $12.96. A discrepancy of only $.03 from the purchase price but is demonstrates a lack of attention to detail. The $14.99 refund request does not show as pending on my card.

The Avet large reel cover was supposed to be shipped yesterday and appears was not. If that is accurate, then DO NOT SHIP IT. Instead, refund my purchase price of $19.00. I will source it elsewhere.

This email follows several orders I had recently placed. On a few of them, the items were shipped immediately and I received them the next day, being relatively close to you. Others have sat for several days. I have spent thousands of dollars with your company and am adding off-shore fishing items to my collection as you can tell from my recent orders, which means thousands more. The inconsistency and not being able to count on your site giving an accurate in-stock status in not conducive to retaining customers.

I just finished placing another order on your site to use up my rewards points and will not be likely to purchase more items from you in the foreseeable future. I hope you fix the issues with your “new system” quickly. It appears you might be poised to lose quite a few customers.

I actually like your website and some of the videos you post. I was even contemplating paying a visit to the store because of your large selection but these issues, unless fixed, make it not worthwhile for me. The only thing that may save you is if your competitors customer service is worse. I guess I will find out.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
