Default Lexa 400hd vs Tranx 400.

Was thinking of picking up another reel because having 20 Isn’t enough. I have a tranx 500 I use for vertical jigging but was looking for something smaller for chunking halcos, poppers and just pitching whatever is biting at weedlines etc. maybe even some jigging as well. Need something that can cast a decent ways. Any opinions?

Both are good reels. Personally like the Tranx better. The Daiwa seems to loose the smoothness faster. The Daiwa has been discontinued for the new version just released at Icast. If you want a Daiwa, they're available for under $200 through Tackle Direct and Alpha-2-Omega among others.

I have a Lexa 400 to me it is more like a dolled up bass reel where the Tranx is a bit more beefy. You may want to consider one of the new style Tekotas they are a bit more streamlined than the older round models and carry a bit more drag pressure.

The Tranx is a little beefier, but the Lexa is a little lighter. I was in the same boat and went with the Lexa for a casting rig. It's caught Jacks, Red Snapper, King Macs, and a lot of other smaller stuff. I haven't been disappointed yet.
