Default Fishing Puerto Rico

Not sure where to post this thread but figured gulf was the closest other then Florida thread, but I am from the Northeast and heading to Puerto Rico for New Years this year. Not sure if anyone has fished or has ideas where to fish in PR for end of December beginning on January. Will be in San Juan and Rincon.

I have a general idea of the fishing seasons down there with the species and time of year blah blah blah, but I would rather talk to someone who really knows where to go and when and what to target. Trying to book one or two charters while im there, been there multiple times but never fished it. Feel free to shoot me a PM, thanks

I have no first hand experience, but I've heard a lot about a charter guy called paco vella. You can google him pretty easily.

Seas are usually pretty rough that time of the year. Good dolphin and wahoo fishing. Sailfish on the north coast with shots at blue marlin. Better blue marlin bite on west coat in December.

Paco Vela is great but he has gone to Punta Cana, DR.The charter established by the legendary Mike Benitez is still operating for offshore San Juan fishing:

If if it’s too rough, the lagoons in San Juan are awesome for tarpon, and there’s nobody better than Juanca Torruella Home - Extreme Fishing Puerto Rico

Fishing PR is great. You can troll a banana peel and hook a blue marlin.

This is the idea I sort of had but the seas are great info, thank you for your insight. Thinking I might try offshore but have the tarpon backup plan.
