Default Nib penn formula 15kg or nib shimano 30tld

i have no experience with either penn formula 15kg 2 speed or shimano 30tld 2 speed. Which is the more dependable. Wahoo and Mahi fishing. Can you guys give your opinions?
thanks

Looks like they don't make/sell the 15kg anymore . Out of the two I would say the TLD 30 , but it's a bit overkill for fishing here . Take a look at the Avet LX 6.0 gen 2 , it's much suited for what you are using it for , and cheaper than the tld . You really don't need a 2 speed .

If you are HST for wahoo neither of the 2 would be a good choice .

Have both reels like them both but for high speed trolling you are better off with a 50 class caught many YFT BFT on them reels with out a problem.

The Penn 15kg was discontinued in 2004 so unless it is priced at half of the TLD30iiA, go with the Shimano.
The Formulas were gorgeous with that shiny plastic but they scratched easily, I know because I've had one for 5 years. It's internal parts are International II level, mine has been flawless used with 30lb mono, strike is scale set at 12lbs(Sufix line wet breaks at 42lbs) There were some reports of gear shift issues when it was first released so it never challenged the Tld30 in sales. Thus nib Formulas aren't that hard to find for a 15-20 year old reel. Make sure the Shimano is the current model Tld30iiA, about $300. The Penn should go for $150, especially as some parts are unobtanium.
