Default Whole fried flounder

I am having a small party at the end of the month and am wanting to cook whole fried flounder. I will need about a dozen. This time of year I can usually get that many in a dive or two.

My question is if I went and got them this weekend would it be ok if I headed gutted and scaled them then froze them, would they be ok to thaw out and cook at the end of the month?

I donít want to wait until a couple days before Incase the weather gets bad or I canít shoot any.

I freeze filets a lot and donít have any problems but am not sure about whole fish.

A lot of guys here despise giggers and spear fishermen. maybe some will still offer advice.

Flounder have always frozen fine for me. Thaw slowly
enjoy!

Zero problems with cleaning and freezing the way you describe. Ive done this with flounder and many other fish with no issues.

That's my favorite way to do smaller flounder.

I freeze other fish whole and only problem is that fins punch holes in freezer bags so I use a container like a bowl.

If you're a diver it's not hard lol.

I did it for 5-6 years. I could fill a limit in 15 min on the NJ wrecks. Problem is finding weather to go get them.
