Default Line for tld 25

Hey guys just picked up a couple tld 25. Put carbontex drags in them and did the other Alan tani upgrades. Plan to run them inshore for cobia, red drum etc plus troll offshore a little ways for dolphin or whatever I can find to bite. I have a pair of tld 20 that have the same upgrades and are over lined with Berkley prospec chrome 40. I know I'm lacking on capacity with those. Now I see most guys go with 30lb moimo diamond. I dont mind ordering some, but I have a 2000ys spool of prospec 30lb ocean blue. Would be an acceptable line. I know the chrome has higher break strength like diamond and the standard pro spec I have matched the moimo high catch instead of the diamond. So, should I spool with the 30 I have or go up to 40 or get the 30lb moimo

I go with 50# braid and a top shot of your choice and that would give you the line cap that you need if you run into a big fish.

Put the 30lb you got on there and go fish them, its plenty of line for what you are fishing for. 30lb catches a lot of fish. I used to go 30lb on the 25ís and 20 on the 20ís, but if I had a big spool, had no problem going 30 on all and just keeping the 20ís shorter

I have mine spooled with a few yards of 30# mono and 300 yds of 50# fireline, I like it because it doesn't get all f'ed up in a birds nest. Top shot gets changed with some mono, usually 30#. I use them for trolling mojo's or 9rs mostly...

thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. just didn't know if I was better off with another line in the long run. I know ive caught plenty of 60lb cobia on penn 320s with the pro spec 30 but then again, those are loaded with chrome which is the equivalent of the diamond dia and strength wise. don't know how I ended up with the non chrome pro spec in 30 but I have it.

This...300 yrd of 50 braid then add ur 30#. That way when u need to re spool you only need to replace the mono

thanks guys. should have known there wouldn't be a clear concise answer. 10 of one way and 10 of another. I like the idea of braid as I mean 600yds of mono that will never be seen only to be stripped off every few years and replaced sucks. how long will the braid on the bottom last? will solid j braid work just fine?

Load it with 40 pound of your choice.
Set your Max drag about 10 pounds

nothing in the bay will run more than 125yds, hell few tuna run that far

no need to tinker with the drags a lot on TLDs, the frames pull apart around 15/17 pounds of drag.

I run 40lbs on mine and unless I hook a shark or a marlin I'll be good trolling for dolphin, kings, blackfin.
