Default Ultimate Grouper & Red Snapper Rig

Hello everyone,

Sadly I havenít fished as much as I used to due to having two kids in the past several years, but now Iím getting more free time to go again. Iím getting my gear back out and it inspired me to ask the question, ďWhat do you believe is the ultimate grouper and red snapper rig?Ē I fish off the Forgotten Coast area of the Gulf of Mexico where the bottom fishing is as good as it gets. Iím always trying to learn more and gather opinions so the more detailed the answer the better.

Thanks!

Dropper loop. I like that I can take the hooks/weight on and off when Iím running. I also donít snag bottom
nearly as much with this set up.

Iíve never fished that before but I like how you have different hooks at different parts of the water column. Thanks for the response!

I fish out of Appalachia and Carrabelle. Plenty of reef and structure options.
Run 60 pound braid with a 4-10ounce lead ball slid over the line. Very the weight based on the current. The one with the hole in the center. Swivel under the ball with 3-6 feet of 30 pound mono and a circle hook. Drop the ball to the bottom and let the bait float in the current. The braid allows you to pull them up before they go into the structure.
