Source for Zuker's feathers
I have a spreader bar that is made up with Zuker's feather lures and the feathers have broke or rotted away. I have looked on line for replacement feathers but all I seem to come up with are feather for tying flies. Does any one know where I can purchase some black, red or purple feathers for these lures? Thanks |
Might try a hobby shop. They will probably have feathers of multiple colors. |

A lot of the feathers in hobby shops don’t hold their colors too well. What’s wrong with fly tying feathers? I looked at these lures, and the feathers look like saddle hackles. You can get packages of large saddle hackles pretty cheap from fly tyer’s outlets. Good saddles like Metz and American are expensive. |
30 years ago I bought 3# pounds of feathers from a company I believe was Hobbs Feather. Came in a 2' x 2' box. I think I spent $150. Look for an OEM feather supplier

Thanks, I searched for "saddle hackles" and found some that I think will work. The fly tying ones found looked to be small for the lures I had. |
I've got several Zukers that I don't use if you're interested. Red, blue, and purple.

The large are usually 5-6”. Schlappen feathers can be much longer and are good for offshore flies. You may want to look at them. |
Tell us or show us exactly what you are looking for. I have a dozen+ or so aging in their original plastic tubes. And surely many here have a stash as well.
