Default Fluoro Leader - Best for the $$$

I figured I'd ask this because it's a market that always seems in flux. I've always used Yo Zuri. Price is reasonable. It's nice in workable when it comes to rigging. I'm not a fan of SeaGuar. I find it to be not very workable, bad with memory, etc.

So what's really the best for the money?

I typically use 40-80# for chunking but I'm looking at 120# and up for my trolling rigs.

I like Yo Zuri HD Carbon Pink. Never have had a problem with it. I use Diamond Fluro for wind-ons and like it also.

I buy 100 yard spools of yozuri pink, it ties good knots and I've always preferred pink over clear. As for price DK, don't know

But FYI sea guar reformulated last year and ties much better knots.

That was my biggest complaint. It was literally like tying a knot in electrical wire.

Some people don't seem to like it but I have zero complaints with bulk bullbuster flouro. NOT sponsored.

Bottom Fishing I tend to use Calcutta brand or Trikfish with no complaints - inshore or finesse fishing I lean towards seaguar - trolling leaders momoi

Vicious fluoro.... I've tested it against momoi diamond and you zuri. It was much stronger than you zuri and about the same as momoi .... don't know if the line thicknesses varied though..... but hard to beat for the $$$

I've tried them all. Seaguar is by far the best leader. Diameter is much thinner than yozuri and other brands. Plus its not crazy stiff like others. Here is a link to 60lb test on amazon.

Look up triple fish. My buddy turned me onto them this year and so far no complaints

I've found myself going back to ande pink mono. Fluoro is cool and all, but the pink mono catches fish at the same rate for me for a fraction of the price.

That being said, I do like those little mini spools of berkley vanish fluoro, but that's because they are small and easy to carry a few sizes in my little fly fishing pack.

That's why Ande Pink is considered the poor man's fluorocarbon!

It's actually very expensive leader. I would stay with Yo Zuri for that price.

Probably the best price point of the lot to be honest. It's just a shame they only make it up to 125#. I'm looking for 150#

The vendor here, Thunder5l or whatever his name is, has some good stuff. Haven't checked his pricing recently, but it's done me well over past few years.

I use Yo-Zuri as well as Momoi Diamond Presentation Fluorocarbon. For the line classes mentioned by the OP I use a combination Ande's pink and flourocarbon - saves me quite a bit of money.

My opinion is that the the last place you should go cheap is on your leader, particularly when buying fluoro-carbon. It is the most important link between you and the fish. I have tried a lot of fluoro-carbon, but for me it is Momoi Diamond all the way. Ties well, great abrasion resistance and strength and it has never failed me. I like pink but use both pink and clear. The Momoi hard finish mono leader material is also outstanding and all we use for trolling for billfish.

Good stuff, but their shipping prices are outrageous sometimes.

I've asked if I can do local pickup and was told NO.

Yeah but I find absolutely nothing wrong with Yo-Zuri.

I just found a place that will sell a 100 yd coil of 150# for $155.00

That's virtually unbeatable. If I were to start getting into off brands like Bullbuster or god forbid, KastKing...would be a different story. However, it looks like I took a walk around the block here and ended up right where I started again lol...Yo-Zuri.

Looks like he doesn't have 150# that I saw, but 100yds of 130 is $99.99. Shipping is minimal (was, last time I ordered). He has higher test than 130, too.

100% Japanese Fluorocarbon Line from 20# to 130# on 25, 50, and 100 Yard Spool
