Question: If this was really a life/death situation, and recognizing that the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, USCG, State Fish and Wildlife all have marine units, why didn't the the responding LEOs wait until the boat docked before approaching the vessel?

If it was really a life/death situation, several agencies would have responded by boat and air.

Something doesn't add up here.

The first mate was sleeping for most of the trip, but was awoken to help deal with the captain. He also filed report against the captain saying that he heard the gunshots. I noticed a few people ask, but the 15-year-old boy was not drinking. He was getting his uncle a beer from the captain's pail on the second deck of the Double Marker. The captain who had allegedly started drinking before they left and seen smoking a joint and marijuana and Captain Morgan, refused to let the boy take a beer for his uncle and followed him down the ladder. That's where he grabbed him around the neck and snapped the boy's chain/necklace.

I always have my carry with me on both my charter boats. It is because at 4:30 am I run into all kinds of characters on my way to the boat if I stop anywhere for something.

It gets put on the boat and secured simply because I don't want to leave it in my truck for someone to steal. It stays in its Vapor proof dry bag locked up in the Cabin or the lockable rod locker on the flats boat.

hehe bud I’m Canadian and I have no problems with firearms or carrying firearms. It’s just something I’m not used to in my neck of the woods

Its probably a bad sign if the charter captain has a bucket (that's weird that it was a "pail" and not a cooler) of beer on the bridge with him during a trip.

I weep for the state of reading comprehension in this country. It was explicitly stated that the 15 year old was getting a beer for one of the older guys.

Is it me or does the 15 year old look surprisingly similar to a certain banjo playing character from a famous Burt Reynolds' movie?

Yes, let's make fun of a kid with acne. So edgy and cool. Y'all are hilarious.

I was fishing out of Haulover last summer and a charter from the Haulover fleet 200-300 yds away from us trolling the 100-150’ edge started firing a riffle to the water, I thought that was very stupid. Not sure if it was the capt or guest, but it happened a few times.

There's a Kraken that lives in that area . It is only seen if the charter captain is drinking , smoking grass and doing crack .

I doubt assets were available at that time.

There was no active ping and where would you suggest they start looking. It ain't like someone set off an epirb or mayday as to my knowledge.

Some kid sends a text with no clue as to where the F he is.

The kid is alive and the boat is moving while he is texting what ever..

I'm glad based on what I have heard here a massive SAR was not started.

It would have been a severe misuse of resources for an idiot.
