Default Tortugas rule/regulations

we’ll be Fishing/Spearing in the Tortugas in a few weeks. I believe we follow GULF rules/regulations, and call the ranger before entering the park to declare our catch. Can anyone please confirm if this is accurate? Thanks. is offline

in my hundreds of times going there I've never called in to declare my catch. In fact, on the rare occasion that I have tried hailing the Fort, not once...ever...have they answered.

Also, be very careful about the spearfishing. Once you're in the park you need to have the gear broken down and stowed away. Don't even give them a chance to "think" that you may have been spearing in the park.

It is much more complicated than just gulf federal regs. Stupidly complicated. There is no spearing of permit, and only 1 hog per person south of Cape Sable. Inside the park or even within 9 miles of land you are bound by Atlantic limits. These are just examples and not meant to be a comprehensive list or construed as legal advice.
