Default New boat care

I have a ranger 2510 on order. What do you suggest I do to protect it from day one before it gets dunked the first time. Is there anything I can do to seal the hull to keep away the tannic stains? What do you recommend to protect the anodized aluminum?

Wax the hull, most boat companies during the manufacturing process will only polish and or buff the hull. Granted that the wax in the mold will stay with the gel coat, however adding and sticking with a good marine wax from the start and periodically depending on use and location of your boat will help with stains. I would also reccomend a good boat cover when not in use it protects all your cushions, gauges, electronics and above hull gear from the elements. Products like Flitz are good Anodized Aluminum polish and again a decent marine wax work well however if it is a grab bar or hand hold of sorts it becomes slick with wet hands.
Good luck

Just another tip and depending on your general use of the boat, I use a boat soap with wax. Some are very much against this however I notice after a day of offshore fishing blood stains, squid ink and even scuff marks left by shoes are much easier to scrub off. I also like this as you never really get a chance to wax the deck and other areas of your boat once they come out of the mold minus bright work.

Tanic staining is a tough one. Like others have said, the best way to avoid permeant staining is to keep the hull waxed and wash it with soap every time. For anodized aluminum, I suggest Pro Polish. Keep them waxed and they will look good for a very long time. DO NOT use any type of abrasive compound or metal polish on anodized aluminum, it will cut and destroy the coating that keeps them looking new.

I have a 2510 as well.....if it is staying outside make sure the cover goes all the way to the water line to keep the sun & elements off off the hull. Wax can only do so much.
